The circular economy as opportunity for entrepreneurs: applications open for the Green Alley Award 2017!
Last year, ERP Finland saw the necessity to not only function as a service provider for compliance, sustainability and consulting but to also be at the forefront of innovation by getting to know today’s mavericks of the Circular Economy by joining the Green Alley Award, a European business competition for green start-ups and eco-entrepreneurs. This year, the award is hosted for the fourth time in a row. Together with Green Alley, Germany’s crowdfunding pioneer Seedmatch, the London Accelerator programme Bethnal Green Ventures, as well as this year also H2 Compliance and R2PI, a Horizon 2020 project, ERP Finland is encouraging young start-ups and entrepreneurs to apply with either a service, technology, product or awareness campaign for the Green Alley Award 2017. Applications are accepted until 25th July 2017. All start-ups have to do is to head to www.green-alley-award.com and apply online.
“Becoming part of a Europe-wide start-up competition was something completely new to us! Step by step, we established ourselves in the Nordic start-up scene and the results exceeded our expectations: 191 applications from more than 50 countries – and we even got to see a Finnish start-up ResQ Club pitching in the finals. By joining the award for a second time, we aim to strengthen our partnerships from last year and to receive even more applications from the Nordics.” says Olli Alanen, Country Manager of ERP Finland.
Who is the Award targeting?
The application for the Green Alley Award 2017 is open to all start-ups with an idea relating to resource preservation, the circular economy, recycling, but also innovations in handling chemicals. There are no restrictions for the development stage of the start-up. This allows us to see business models in their early development as well as mock-ups or prototypes.
What to keep in mind when applying?
“After evaluating all the different business models last year, I have one piece of advice: it’s important to customize your pitch deck. This is the first impression that the selection committee gets,” says Olli Alanen.
Once the application deadline closes on 25th July, ERP Finland together with all partners will review and evaluate the applications. The six most convincing start-ups will be invited to a one-day event in Berlin in November where at the end of the day, the winner of the Green Alley Award 2017 will be announced.
What’s in it for the finalists and winner?
At the event in early November, all finalists will be matched with experts from the field as well as experienced start-ups with whom they will discuss their business ideas in customized coaching sessions. That evening, the finalists will get the chance to present their idea live on stage in a 5 minute pitch to an international audience and jury.
The winner of the Green Alley 2017 will receive a prize package worth up to 30,000 EUR which includes a cash prize of 7,000 EUR, the access to a broad network of circular economy experts and free tickets to SLUSH in Helsinki.
