Successful eleven-date tour comes to an end

The UK’s only e-waste recycling tour completed its journey around nine Welsh local authorities at the weekend.

Make Noise Wales is a collaborative project between the nine councils in the regional WEEE recycling contract, procured by Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council, together with ERP and Heavenly Recordings, who created the Make Noise brand, and Resource Efficiency Wales, the co-ordinator of the South Wales Waste Management Group for thirteen councils across Wales.

The final gig was held in Talgarth on Saturday 14th October, concluding in an eleven-date tour across sixteen months. Almost 2,500 people attended the events, each one bringing small electrical items for recycling to the door as their entry fee.

The tour included a launch night in Cardiff in summer 2016, then dates followed in Carmarthen, Newport, Cardiff, Aberystwyth and Pontypridd in Autumn 2016, with the remaining gigs in Blackwood, Merthyr Tydfil, Ebbw Vale and Talgarth held in Autumn 2017.

The aim of Make Noise Wales is to raise awareness that broken small electrical items can be recycled and, where possible, preferably repaired. At each event, REW staff were present to engage with partygoers and help explain where similar electrical items can be reused and recycled. They also answered a variety of questions about WEEE recycling and other associated local recycling services too.
