The public consultation period is now open for amendments to the royal decrees on WEEE and battery waste

  • Comments and suggestions can be submitted up until 18 June

On 18 May last year, Miteco (Spain’s Department for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge) opened the public hearing period for the draft royal decree, that will amend Royal Decree 106/2008 regarding batteries and the environmental management of their waste, and Royal Decree 110/2015 regarding waste electrical and electronic equipment.

Both amendments arise from the need to align these two royal decrees with EU Directive 2018/849 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 30 May 2018 which amended Directive 2000/53/EC regarding end-of-life vehicles; Directive 2006/66/EC regarding batteries and accumulators and their waste; and Directive 2012/19/EU regarding waste electrical and electronic equipment.
