On 18 May last year, Miteco (Spain's Department for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge) opened the public hearing period for the draft royal decree, that will amend Royal Decree 106/2008 regarding batteries and the environmental management of their waste, and Royal Decree 110/2015 regarding waste electrical and electronic equipment.
Both amendments arise from the need to align these two royal decrees with EU Directive 2018/849 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 30 May 2018 which amended Directive 2000/53/EC regarding end-of-life vehicles; Directive 2006/66/EC regarding batteries and accumulators and their waste; and Directive 2012/19/EU regarding waste electrical and electronic equipment.
