Simbiosis Naturaleza Hombre, by Madrid artist Mario Boccolini, took the first national prize of the CirculArt contest. The winning sculpture, which combines various techniques of wood carving and bonding, metal welding and forging, symbolises the union of humans and nature. The award comes with a cash prize of €3,000.

The work, the winner of the Madrid edition of the contest, competed for the national award along with the three other regional winners from Asturias (Miguel Díaz for Los pinceles ciegos), Castilla y León (Julio Sendino for La Dama de los plásticos) and Murcia (Pablo Cross for Nuestra casa teléfono).

Now a virtual exhibition offers you the opportunity to view the 40 works selected from those submitted to the CirculArt, created by artists across four autonomous communities to raise awareness of the importance of the circular economy and responsible management of waste in our society. The contest is organised by ERP Spain, a Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) scheme, dedicated to the management of waste electrical and electronic equipment and batteries and accumulators.
