Green Alley Award: Public Vote for 2021’s edition

February 10th, 2021

After the successful application phase, this year was introduced the public voting session for the Green Alley Award 2021 that ended at the beginning of February. For the very first time since the award’s launch in 2014, the public could decide who shall become one of the six finalists in Berlin.

Only one out of the 20 best circular economy startups can make it – and the expert selection committee will select the remaining five startups.

The six finalists will then be invited to the final pitch event, where they will take part in expert sessions and compete for the prize of €25,000.

The Green Alley Award TOP 20

Out of 189 applications, the Green Alley Award team pre-selected the most promising ideas. The startups are based in Germany, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK. Their ideas range from waste prevention to recycling and digital solutions.

Cyclic Design from Germany, for example, is developing a unique design and biobased material which is 100% recyclable. This reusable packaging solution helps brands, retailers and consumers to reduce plastic waste.

Pixies from Italy is an innovative smart bench which helps cities to solve the problem of littering. It uses AI and an autonomous mobile robot to clean up urban spaces and sort plastic waste.

The Netherland’s Excess Materials Exchange is a go-to digital platform, which helps organisations to quickly manage their supply and demand of excess materials, products and waste streams across industries.

You could vote for one of the Top 20 here. Everyone who votes for a startup on the website and likes a post on the Green Alley Award’s social media channels will automatically enter this year’s draw. They will then have the chance to win one of three Trendraider sustainable lifestyle boxes.
