Accumulators<\/h2>\n<p><b>Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) principle<\/b> which establishes the reduction of negative environmental impacts deriving from the design and production of EEE and from the management of waste electrical and electronic equipment, WEEE.<\/p>\n<p>The legislation establishes, also with regard to batteries and accumulators &#8211; portable, for motor vehicles and industrial, the principle of &#8220;Extended Responsibility of the Producer&#8221;, asserting that the process of collection, recycling and treatment of RPA must be managed in a manner similar to that of WEEE.<\/p>\n<p>In Italy, as regards EEE and WEEE, the European Directive 2012\/19\/EU was implemented with <b>Legislative Decree 49\/2014<\/b>, while Directive 2006\/66\/EC, relating to batteries and accumulators and waste Batteries and Accumulators was implemented with <b>Legislative Decree 188\/2008<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>They have currently been modified by the current European Directive 2018\/849 implemented in Italy with Legislative Decree 118\/2020 present in the Circular Economy Package.<\/p>\n<h2 data-fontsize=\"50\" data-lineheight=\"60px\" class=\"fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" style=\"--fontSize: 50;line-height: 1.2\">The legislation&#8217;s purpose<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>An obligation for producers and distributors to finance a system for the recovery and recycling of products placed on the market (\u201cextended producer responsibility\u201d principle);<\/li>\n<li>Measures aimed primarily at preventing the production of WEEE and WPB and their reuse, recycling and other forms of recovery to reduce the disposed waste volume.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The previous 27 January 2003 Directive 2002\/96\/EC of the European Parliament and Council on WEEE was implemented with Legislative Decree No. 151\/05, which was replaced by the 14 March 2014 Legislative Decree No. 49.<\/p>\n<p>The European Directive 2018\/849 is in force today, transposed in Italy with Legislative Decree 118\/2020 present in the Circular Economy Package.<\/p>\n<h3 data-fontsize=\"30\" data-lineheight=\"37.5px\" class=\"fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" style=\"--fontSize: 30;line-height: 1.25\"><strong>Open Scope:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Legislative Decree No. 49\/2014, starting from 15 August 2018, has provided for an extension of the WEEE legislation which requires producers, importers and those who sell EEE under their own brand to organise and finance the waste (WEEE) collection and recovery system deriving from products placed on the market.<\/p>\n<h3 data-fontsize=\"30\" data-lineheight=\"37.5px\" class=\"fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" style=\"--fontSize: 30;line-height: 1.25\"><\/h3>\n<h2 data-fontsize=\"50\" data-lineheight=\"60px\" class=\"fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" style=\"--fontSize: 50;line-height: 1.2\"><span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">Why collect WEEE and Waste Batteries and Accumulators?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: var(--awb-text-color);font-family: var(--awb-text-font-family);font-size: var(--awb-font-size);font-style: var(--awb-text-font-style);font-weight: var(--awb-text-font-weight);letter-spacing: var(--awb-letter-spacing);text-align: var(--awb-content-alignment);text-transform: var(--awb-text-transform);background-color: var(--awb-bg-color)\">The collection and recycling of WEEE and exhausted batteries and accumulators must be everyone&#8217;s commitment because:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the correct management of the collection and recycling of WEEE and exhausted portable batteries and accumulators represents an added value for the environment and the community;<\/li>\n<li>used WEEE, batteries and portable accumulators can be recycled for the purpose of recovering the raw materials they contain;<\/li>\n<li>the European Directive imposes on us very
