ERP Portugal ‘ranforms batteries into equipment for Re-food

The collection of thousands of batteries at Pingo Doce stores through the “This Christmas offer batteries” campaign, promoted by ERP Portugal in partnership with Rádio Comercial, allowed the delivery of equipment to Re-food totaling 15 000 euros, converted into materials and necessary resources for the daily activity of the institution.

The national event of Re-food, whose mission is to distribute meals to those who need it most every day throughout the country, took place on March 9, when several partners were recognized, among them ERP Portugal, which symbolically marked the delivery of the donation with the offer of thermal bags and aprons, necessary for the process of collection and delivery of meals. In the scope of this donation, other equipment will be installed in several Re-food centers (Campo de Ourique, Lumiar and Nationwide), such as refrigerator, cold room, air conditioner, tables and rubbish bins.

For Rosa Monforte, ERP Portugal General Manager, this initiative “had a very positive result. We can ‘transform’ batteries that no one uses in new equipment needed for an association that has such essential work is undoubtedly something that complete us. It is much more than an environmental issue, it is a side of charity that, together with Rádio Comercial, we have been able to share with many more people.”

Hunter Handler, Founder of Re-food, “Our new partnership with ERP appeals to the entire Re-food family since the donation so generously offered to Re-food is already empowering the 50 Re-food centers to do more and better social and environmental impact in Portugal and, soon, across borders. The 2 million meals redeemed in 2018 represent more than a thousand tons of bio-waste material that will not pollute our environment. Now ERP, already with a strong impact in defense of our environment, is participating in the socio-environmental work of the Re-food Movement – welcome!”
