Depositrão Generation Winning Schools – 1st phase

12 schools distinguished in the waste collection activity

  • ERP Portugal gives prizes in four collection categories: refrigeration equipment, TV and monitors, lamps and batteries
  • “Depositrão Ambassador” Challenge runs until April 23

ERP Portugal has just revealed the winners of the 13th edition Generation Depositrão first phase. In the academic year 2020/2021, the schools that participate in this initiative are recognized in the different periods based on WEEE and used batteries collection activities, and creative challenges.

Throughout the school year there will be 3 phases of the collection activity evaluation, in which 3 schools will be awarded in 4 specific categories of waste, namely: cold/temperature regulation equipment, TV and monitors, lamps and batteries.

In the total of this 1st stage, more than 80 tons were collected, with about 50% of this total corresponding to the waste categories of this challenge.

In the cold equipment category, the Escola Básica e Secundária Dr. Luís Maurílio da Silva Dantas (3569kg), from Madeira, was distinguished, followed by the Escola Secundária de Ponte de Sor (1882kg), from Portalegre, and the Escola Básica e Secundária Lajes do Pico (1708kg), in the Azores. Each educational establishment will be awarded by Worten with a fridge or freezer.

In the TV and monitors category, more than 14 tons of this type of waste were also collected. Highlight for the EB23 D. Manuel Faria Sousa (3077kg) from Porto, Escola Básica e Secundária de Anadia (1294kg), from Aveiro, and Escola Básica e Secundária Dr. Luís Maurílio da Silva Dantas (593kg), from Madeira. The winning schools in this category will receive a new LCD or monitor from LG.

ERP Portugal also rewards the collection of light bulbs, a category where more than 1000kg of collected have been counted so far, whose top 3 is occupied by the Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade Nova de Lisboa, EB23 Delfim Santos and Externato Cooperativo da Benedita de Leiria. In the used batteries there was a total collection of 5500 kg and the winning schools were: Escola Secundária de Adolfo Portela, Escola Básica e Secundária de Ourém and Escola Básica e Secundária de Anadia.

Filipa Moita, ERP Portugal PR Manager, reinforces the importance of the results of this academic year: “It has not been an easy year at different levels and it is with great satisfaction that we verify that the students and the entire school community remain active in this matter. We are reaching the final stretch of this school year, so we call for the massive participation of all schools and twinned entities, each kilogram can make the difference! In addition to the environmental benefit, translated into the correct waste treatment and recycling, participants can win prizes and all collections at national level will contribute to the IPO donation! Congratulations to all of you! We continue to count on your commitment and dynamism!”

In addition to the collection, creative activities also take place, such as quizzes, posters and videos about these waste recycling importance.

Depositrão Generation is an ERP Portugal campaign, implemented in partnership with ABAE (Blue Flag Association of Europe), through the Eco-Schools Program, and has the support of the brands Decathlon, LG, Orima, Pingo Doce and Worten.
