ERP Portugal promotes waste collection in Reguengos de Monsaraz

June 3rd, 2021

Water World Forum for Life

ERP Portugal launches the electrical and electronic equipment and end-of-life batteries selective collection challenge, next to dozens of establishments in the Reguengos de Monsaraz Municipality. This initiative has the support of the City Council and aims to transform Parish Councils, schools and local commerce establishments into delivery points available to the population for their waste for recycling.

Dedicated logistic solutions were installed at the network's collection points, such as Depositrões and Traga Pilhas, to facilitate the behavior of waste delivery and, thus, increase the quantities of waste targeted for treatment and decontamination, as well as the potential for obtaining secondary raw materials through the recycling process.

This action is part of the set of dynamics developed within the scope of the Water World Forum For Life event, taking place at the beginning of June in that location.

The world event is focused on the theme of water and takes place for the first time in Portugal, with the sponsorship of ERP Portugal.

Presenting the social, cultural, sports and global aspects, it aims to raise awareness of the urgency of immediate behavior and of what each one can do to contribute to a more sustainable planet.

Rosa Monforte, ERP Portugal General Manager, added that “this is an action that seeks to actively involve the population. More than being present at an event of this magnitude and recognition, we want to impact the region in a positive and educational way, appealing to the contribution of all inhabitants for the preservation of this precious resource, water. It is imperative to draw attention to the impact of harmful substances in these waste (heavy metals, for example) on ecosystems, on our health and on the environment. Waste that does not enter in the respective management chain can end up in rivers, seas and oceans, harming the beings that inhabit there and may reach the food chain. We want to change this vision and, together, increase the waste collected and recycled amounts, ensuring its proper destination.”

Ricardo Neto, President of ERP Portugal and Novo Verde, will be a keynote speaker at the event, on June 5th at 2:45 pm, with the subject“Waste: Changing Mentalities to Change Behaviors”.
