Calling All Battery & WEEE Recycling Champions!!!

ERP Ireland is calling on businesses, community groups and schools in Ireland that have established a battery and WEEE recycling programme to enter the Pakman Awards 2021 and become a Recycling Champion!  With 12 categories, the National Environmental Awards honour organisations, businesses, community groups and individuals across Ireland, who demonstrate best practice and innovation in recycling and waste management.

ERP Ireland is inviting you to enter The Battery and WEEE Champion category which recognises initiatives that increase awareness and take-back of batteries and/or electrical waste for recycling. We are aware of a large number of initiatives that took place during 2020 despite the restrictions brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.  Over 530 tonnes of batteries were recycled by ERP Ireland in 2020 - a 7% increase - enough batteries to line the length of Ireland – twice! ERP Ireland also identified a 9% increase in electronic waste recycling.

By entering, you have the opportunity to highlight your environmental achievements to a national audience with the potential of winning a national environmental award for your endeavours.

Closing date for entries is August 27, and finalists in each category will be notified in September. The 2021 Pakman Awards ceremony will be held on 29th October in The Shelbourne Hotel, subject to government guidelines, where winners of each category will be announced in addition to the winner of the Overall Pakman Award.
