With the UK's ban on single-use vapes now in effect (as of June 1st), we're seeing increased enforcement of WEEE and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations across the wider vape sector.
Many businesses, particularly smaller producers and retailers, remain unaware of their responsibilities under these laws, which can potentially expose them to fines or investigations.
The Environment Agency is actively targeting non-compliant vape businesses, with enforcement actions already underway. Even reusable vape products are subject to WEEE regulations, which require proper collection and recycling systems.
John Redmayne, Managing Director of ERP UK, explains: "Even after the ban on single-use vapes, many businesses don't realise they're classified as 'producers' under the law. This means they're obligated to offer take-back for used vape products. It's not just about legal compliance; it's an opportunity to demonstrate responsible business practices to customers and communities increasingly concerned about waste."
As a leading compliance expert, ERP UK is actively helping vape businesses navigate these complex regulations with straightforward compliance solutions. Our expertise ensures you meet your legal obligations while turning environmental responsibility into a competitive advantage.
