Your responsibilities

How do I know if I’m obligated?

For battery compliance, you have the following obligations to meet, if you:

  • Have a UK presence and are the manufacturer or importer that firstly placed batteries on the UK market – including those in products

What do you need to do?

Here are a few simple steps to achieving battery compliance:

  • Register as a battery producer within 28 days of placing batteries onto the UK market
  • Report (data) how many batteries you placed on the market
  • Join a compliance scheme and finance the collection and recycling of waste portable batteries (if applicable)
  • Take-back waste industrial and automotive batteries (if applicable)
