4 million tonnes of WEEE collected
It’s official: we’ve reached 4 million tonnes of electronic waste collected.
European Recycling Platform has reached a significant milestone by collecting more than 4 million tonnes of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) across Europe since its foundation in 2002.
Collecting 4 million tonnes of WEEE shows that European Recycling Platform has contributed significantly to the circular economy in the EU and proves that extended producer responsibility in a competitive environment brings huge benefits for the environment at a reasonable cost to producers.
4 million tonnes of WEEE collected means that we met the obligations of our producers and helped them to achieve their environmental goals. It also means that we avoided the loss of valuable resources and prevented hazardous substances going to landfill or being incinerated. We are delighted with our 4 million tonnes collection achievement to date.... now, we’re focused on collecting 5 million tonnes!!!
