ERP: Making an Impact in the Circular Economy Sector since 2004
The European Recycling Platform (ERP) celebrates its 20th anniversary and highlights how its activity has contributed to the circular economy sector
Founded in 2004 by four appliance Producers (Electrolux, HP, Braun-Gillette and Sony), the European Recycling Platform was the first company authorised to operate multi-country producer responsibility organisations (PRO) and solutions and is now covering 17 countries, worldwide.
Always aiming to generate competition in the sector, ERP has more than 38,000 customers and already collected over 12 million tonnes of batteries, e-waste, and packaging, transforming nine million tonnes of waste into resources, and preventing nine million tonnes of carbon emissions.
Umberto Raiteri, President of ERP, congratulates the efforts of teams, customers, stakeholders and partners and underlines that “we have been making an impact and consolidating our position as an effective player in Extended Producer Responsibility and circular economy market worldwide and locally, in the countries where we are operating, in the name of our Producers and to benefit the Planet, the companies and the society. Expanding our scope and covering new waste streams are key drivers which will continue making part of our strategic pillars, searching for quality, fair and cost-efficient solutions, applied not only to waste management and recycling but also to product design and manufacturing processes.”
One of the remarkable milestones took place in 2014 when Landbell Group and ERP joined forces and started working together, presenting an even more competitive and complete offer to Producers and companies that wanted to have environmental and compliance services in several locations and covering different streams, solutions and tailormade circular economy projects.
In the vision of Jan Patrick Schulz, CEO of Landbell Group, “joining forces with ERP in 2014 was a crucial step for our growth as it allowed us to amplify our portfolio of compliance services, entering to the e-waste and batteries waste streams markets and completing our offer, that time focused on packaging. The multi-country model was also relevant added value brought by ERP based on its deep knowledge of local EPR obligations and requirements and made it possible to mark a solid and credible positioning in the international circular economy market.”
ERP’s mission is to ensure high-quality and cost-effective implementation of the e-waste, batteries, packaging and textiles directives, for the benefit of its customers, the environment and society.
