ERP Norway and TOMRA join forces to shape the future of sustainable solutions

January 31st, 2025

ERP Norway and TOMRA have joined forces to create a system that focuses not only on recycling, but also on reuse and circular value chains that give old materials a new lease of life.

In today's world, where resources are increasingly scarce, it is more important than ever to create solutions that guarantee sustainable growth. ERP Norway and TOMRA have joined forces to create a system that focuses not only on recycling, but also on reuse and circular value chains that give old materials a new lease of life.

Recycling is nothing new, but we're taking it a step further. In the past, we've concentrated on recovering steel and other metal components from electronics and machinery, but now we're expanding our work to include plastics. Specific plastic parts are now sorted, compressed and sent to the next stage of the recycling process. This is part of a newly developed circular system for polymers, which ensures that recycled plastic materials can be turned into new products.

As Omar puts it:

‘These parts are compressed, pressed and transported to the next step in their journey towards a new life.’

This system is an important part of our shared vision of a circular future. Through innovative technology and smarter ways of managing waste, ERP and TOMRA are helping to reduce the pressure on virgin resources and create a more sustainable value chain.

Through the TOMRA Retility programme, we are building a platform where we can continuously improve our ability to treat both plastics and other valuable resources that were previously seen as waste. Our technologies make it possible to give everything from cables and engines to plastic parts a second chance, reducing the need to extract new materials and thus significantly lowering our carbon footprint.

Key points:

ERP and TOMRA have been working together for five years to create a circular economy by reusing components such as electric motors and recycling plastics.

New technologies allow plastic parts to be compressed, baled and sent for reuse.

TOMRA Retility focuses on sustainable solutions that reduce the need for virgin resources.
