Novo Verde and ERP Portugal launch cutting-edge awareness centre
Transformarium is designed to engage and educate the younger generation, specifically children up to 12 years old, about the importance of selective waste disposal, sorting and recycling practices.
The two companies have made a significant investment in communication and awareness by opening Transformarium, heralding a new era in environmental education.
Transformarium integrates augmented reality (AR) and video mapping technologies, setting it apart as the first of its kind in Portugal.
Engagement and education
Transformarium is designed to engage and educate the younger generation, specifically children up to 12 years old, about the importance of selective waste disposal, sorting and recycling practices.
The centre aims to foster a deep understanding of the recycling process, while encouraging active participation in sustainability efforts.
Through immersive, interactive experiences, children learn about three key recycling streams – batteries, electronics and packaging – and understand the environmental impact of proper waste management.
Latest technology
One of the most striking features of Transformarium is its use of the latest technology to deliver an engaging and educational experience.
The centre uses AR and video mapping to bring to life the recycling process. Children can explore the various stages of waste management, from raw material extraction to final disposal, interacting with digital content and responding to informative prompts. This provides children with a virtual guide throughout the recycling process.
A long-term commitment to sustainability
The centre has the capacity to accommodate up to 25 children per session, with approximately 5,000 children expected to visit each year. The one-and-a-half-hour circuit covers a wide range of topics.
The opening of Transformarium reflects Novo Verde and ERP Portugal’s ongoing commitment to promoting sustainability and supporting Portugal’s transition to a circular economy.
The project is part of a broader effort to increase awareness and drive behavioural change among young people, ultimately contributing to the country’s recycling and waste management goals.
