Description:

A set of podcasts to clarify the population about what to do with WEEE, where they should be sent, what are the impacts on their daily lives, on companies, retailers, on the environment and even on each one’s budget – these are some of the doubts that plague the citizen and that will be debated in the four e-Waste Talks conducted by the presenter and humorist César Mourão.

Goals:

  • Increase the quantities of waste collected and recycled;
  • Mobilize the population for an active participation on WEEE recycling;
  • Explain the recycling advantages.

RECYCLING AT THE RIGTH DIRECTION

Description:

National media campaign in order to make the Portuguese aware of the correct places to deliver their WEEE and guarantee its treatment, decontamination and recycling.

The campaign is composed by tv and radio spots, social media and digital channels, including a specific landing page about this issue.

Goals:

  • Increase the quantities of waste collected and recycled;
  • Avoid WEEE abandoning and its deviation to parallel circuits;
  • Explain the recycling advantages.

Description:

The comic WEEE & Company Team – Mission: Learning to Transform the Future recovers one of ERP Portugal environmental education tools that dates back to 2008 and that now comes back with new characters, more modern and even more energetic to mobilize the Portuguese for the waste selective delivery.

This piece is mainly aimed at schools and / or other environmental education units and will be available free of charge in compliance scheme initiatives, such as Geração Depositrão (Depositrão Generation) campaign.

Characters: Capitão Fluxo, Grandão, Fininho, Fininho, Zéléle, Vapores, Luzinhas, Depositrão, Carga Máxima e Traga Pilhas.

Goals:

  • Encourage sustainability literacy increasing among children, always attentive environmental ambassadors and excellent influencers of adult behavior;
  • Increase the quantities of waste collected and recycled.

ALL TOGETHER FOR IPO

Year: 2021

Partners: Portuguese Institute of Oncology (IPO) Fernando Gentil

Description:

ERP Portugal has joined IPO again to challenge the Portuguese to participate in the recycling of their waste and help the Institute in its mission. To be part of the “All together for IPO” action, it is enough to deliver used batteries that no longer work at the more than 5000 collection points of ERP Portugal, distributed throughout the country, including also the facilities of the IPO itself (list available here).

The collection of waste covered by the initiative includes batteries and small equipment such as controls, toys, flashlights or watches and batteries for portable computers, mobile phones or game console controls.

The waste collected by the end of the year will be transformed into a donation to be delivered to the IPO for the purchase of diagnostic and treatment equipment for oncological diseases.

Goals:

  • Mobilize the Portuguese to use the correct delivery channels for WEEE and used batteries;
  • Increase the quantities of waste collected and recycled and, at the same time, fulfill the social aspect of helping the IPO.

NON-STOP RECYCLING

Partners: Maratona Clube de Portugal

Description:

Virtual race between may 3 and 9, which participants must register using the VRaces MCP APP or at the races website.

ERP Portugal makes part of the sponsors who will encourage the sports practice, as well as environmental behavior (waste management).

Goals:

  • Mobilize the Portuguese population to sports practices, adding it to environmental worries;
  • Increase the collected and recycled waste.

EARTH BITS

Partners: Maat and Novo Verde

Description:

Earth Bits – Feel the Planet is an installation, based on data that are presented in digital content, videos and an interactive station, designed by the research studio Dotdotdot. The four sections of this project, which also includes the participation of the European Space Agency (ESA), the International Energy Agency (IEA) and EDP Innovation, show the cause / effect link of human behavior on the planet’s resources. From the set of themes addressed in the exhibition, emphasis is placed on recycling waste and the importance of citizens’ behavior as a key to ensure the process and the resulting benefits, namely the measurement of greenhouse gas emission savings.

  • Generate an education and awareness mood next to the Portuguese population, througth carbon print calculation;
  • Highligth environmental behavior importance, namely by delivering the waste in the correct channels, in order to be treated and recycled.

RECYCLING HAS NO TRICK

Description:

Set of tricks with the unique signature of the Portuguese magician Luís de Matos to alert the Portuguese to the urgency and need to give a second life to electrical and electronic equipment that no longer works.

Luís Filipe Borges and Gabriel Ferreira joined Luís de Matos’ challenge and tried out some tricks.

  • Create a chain of awareness and education content for the Portuguese public;
  • Highlight the importance of Depositrão as a logistical solution to guarantee WEEE recycling.

DEPOSITRÃO GENERATION

National campaign aimed at all levels of education, consisting of two activities: collection of WEEE and used batteries and creative challenges.

Star year: 2008

Partners: Associação Bandeira Azul da Europa/Programa Eco-Escolas, LG, Orima, Pingo Doce and Worten.

Description:

Throughout the school year the participating schools work as collection and information points on the appropriate destination to be given to electrical and electronic equipment and batteries at the end of their lives. This set of collection points also includes companies and local entities that joined this mission (Parish Councils, Day Centers, Voluntary Firemen, among others), guaranteeing the treatment, decontamination and recycling of the waste covered. The campaign runs at the national level and covers all levels of education (Basic, Secondary / Professional and Universities) and includes the delivery of waste, also by the surrounding community, mobilized by students, teachers and school staff. So far, more than 3,500 tons of waste have been collected and the average annual participation points to 700 schools, 40 000 teachers and 420 000 students. In addition to the collection, schools respond to creative challenges, segmented by levels, with a view to preventing and promoting materials reuse.

  • Introduce the theme of WEEE and WBA prevention and recycling in the set of citizens behaviors, transforming adherent schools into points for these waste collection and information/awareness next to the local community;
  • Sensitize the school community to the importance of collecting WEEE and used batteries;

  • Include waste prevention in the set of citizens’ concerns, promoting conscious consumption and reducing the frequency of their disposal.

WORTEN TRANSFORMS

Year: 2020

Partners: Worten and Entreajuda

Description:

Collection of WEEE from all Worten stores in the country with the aim of transforming the tons collected into new equipment to be donated to social institutions. To contribute to the cause, it was also possible to make a donation at worten.pt, adding the product ‘Transforma’ to the cart, available from € 0.50.

This initiative presented two moments: June and December.

Goals:

  • Mobilize the Portuguese to use the correct WEEE delivery channels (such as Worten stores);
  • Increase the quantities of waste collected and recycled and, at the same time, fulfill the social aspect of helping institutions.

Partners: Pingo Doce and Portuguese League of Animal Rights

Description:

Campaign to collect small electrical and electronic equipment and used batteries, in partnership with Pingo Doce, to raise funds for the Portuguese League for Animal Rights (LPDA). Between November and December, for each ton delivered to the Pingo Doce stores, € 100 will be donated to the LPDA for the purchase of resources and supplies.

Goals:

  • Mobilize the Portuguese to use the correct channels for delivering WEEE and used batteries (such as Pingo Doce stores);
  • Increase the quantities of waste collected and recycled and, at the same time, comply with the social aspect of aid to the LPDA.

EDP ​​COMMERCIAL CAMPAIGN

Year: 2020

Partners: EDP Comercial

Description:

Integrated in the new EDP Comercial App (EDP Zero app), this initiative was intended to encourage the recycling habits of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and contribute, through this movement, to saving the planet, which belongs to everyone. Through its network, EDP Comercial was responsible for receiving these equipment and it was up to ERP Portugal to collect and guarantee their recycling.

SOCIAL MEDIA

Make the consumers aware of good practices adoption in terms of waste management, with a special focus on WEEE and used batteries.

SOFIA INSPIRA

Set of eight episodes that exemplify how to give a second chance to WEEE and WBA, through the famous DIY (Do It Yoursef) and handicrafts by the artist Sofia Cotrim, from the “Mundo de Sofia” program.

Description:

Series guided by the values ​​of reduction and reuse, and also by the fun between peers and families, available on the Instagram, Facebook, Linkedin and Youtube networks of ERP Portugal and Novo Verde. In the 8 episodes, the packaging used, the electrical equipment and the batteries at the end of their lives were the main actors in 100% sustainable works and which presented the message of environmental awareness and emergency as the common denominator.

  • Integrate concepts related to packaging recycling, WEEE and WBA in the set of followers concerns;

SofiaInspira

TRAGA PILHAS

Brand created by ERP Portugal to streamline the collection of used batteries, appealing to the active participation of citizens in this mission.

Description:

The brand designation naturally appeals to the behavior of taking batteries and accumulators at the end of their life to the points of selective collection and thus guaranteeing their recycling. The logistical equipment on the ground is the bearer of this call to action and takes on a new identity and image, with greater prominence and impact, totally dedicated to this issue.

Goals:

  • Alert the consumer to the importance and need to recycle this type of waste, encouraging their active participation in this process;
  • Promote the use of the deposition channels provided for this waste.
