Textile EPR worldwide – PRO in the USA and updates from Austria
Landbell USA selected as the official PRO for textiles in California.
The selection of Landbell USA as the Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO) for textiles in the state of California marks an important milestone in the development of a circular textile economy in the United States.
The goal of the system is to increase the collection, reuse, and recycling of textiles while strengthening producer responsibility for the entire lifecycle of their products.
This development once again highlights our international expertise in EPR compliance.
What is the current status of textile EPR in Austria? In Austria—and across the EU—the introduction of EPR for textiles is currently a key topic within the revised EU Waste Framework Directive, which entered into force on October 17, 2025.
Member States now have until June 2027 to transpose the directive into national law. By April 2028 at the latest, mandatory EPR systems for textiles are to be implemented in all EU countries.
What this will mean in concrete terms for Austria is still open. The exact structure depends on national implementation by the responsible Ministry of the Environment.
