ERP in the 1st Ser Andalucía Meeting on the Circular Economy

  • Matías Rodrigues, General Manager of ERP Spain, highlighted in his speech the push made by Europe towards the circular economy as a motor for sustainable development.

The General Manager of ERP Spain, Matias Rodrigues, participated today in the 1st SER Andalucía Meeting on the Circular Economy, organised by the media channel in collaboration with RAEE Andalucía.

In his speech, the General Manager of ERP Spain highlighted the global presence of the ERP, with more than 35 collective systems in 15 countries, and which has recently reached the milestone of 3 million tons of WEEE collected since its commencement, an achievement which is equivalent, in terms of CO2 savings, to taking 12 million cars off the street for an entire year. With regard to the circular economy, he pointed out that “it will be defined at the European level by the long-term waste management policy. The primary goal is to de-link economic growth from the need to extract new raw materials, through measures that reduce the quantity of materials that end up in landfills”.

The meeting, held at the headquarters of the Cajasol Foundation, was inaugurated by the President of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Susana Díaz; accompanied by the President of the Cajasol Foundation, Antonio Pulido; the President of the FAMP, Fernando Rodríguez Villalobos; and the Director General of the Ecolec Foundation, Luis Moreno, as the president of the coordinating office of SCRAPs. The closing address was given by the mayor of Seville, Juan Espadas.
