ERP Spain collaborates in the “Dona Vida al Planeta” Campaign

The European Recycling Platform Spain (ERP Spain) collaborates, alongside the other Collective Systems on Extended Producer Responsibility (SCRAP as per the Spanish) that operate in Andalusia, in the “Dona Vida al Planeta” [Donate Life to the Planet] campaign, which aims to raise awareness about recycling waste electrical or electronic equipment in this Autonomous Community. Promoted by RAEE Andalucía, this also has the support of the Council for the Environment and Spatial Planning of the Government of Andalusia and the Andalusian Federation of Municipalities, Provinces (FAMP as per Spanish).

The campaign was launched yesterday at an event which took place at the Carrefour Holea Shopping Centre in Huelva, and it will go around all of Andalusia throughout the months of May and June. The launch event was attended by the counsellor of the Environment, José Fiscal, the vice president of the Andalusian Federation of Municipalities, Provinces (FAMP), Ignacio Caraballo and the mayor of Huelva, Gabriel Cruz. Yesterday’s event is the first of 500 that will be carried out in Andalusia in order to promote WEEE recycling.

The campaign will be promoted by RAEE Andalucía via its social media with the hashtag #DonaVidaAlPlaneta and it will travel all over Andalusia between 7 May and 5 June, with information points at municipal recycling centres and shopping centres over 400 meters squared that, pursuant to the new regulation on WEEE, have the obligation to collect, free of charge, small domestic appliances that citizens hand over so that they can be correctly managed.

The information points will have a marquee in which citizens will be encouraged to recycle their WEEE, informing them of the environmental benefits that this involves. There will also be educational games about WEEE recycling, such as WEEE Trivia, the WEEEl of Fortune and WEEE Word Searches, which aim to provide information in a fun way. The campaign also has another incentive for citizens, as it will have a prize draw of 50 gift vouchers with a value of 100 euros and two weekends in natural areas in Andalusia.
