2020 saw ERP Spain recycle 84% of the total weight of batteries and accumulators managed. This represents the recovery of 2.069 tonnes of recoverable materials from batteries and accumulators in disuse.
Of that, 425 tonnes are from materials recovered through recycling of lead acid, 145 t of batteries of nickel-cadmium and 1,500 t of other battery and accumulator technologies, including portable batteries for domestic use and lithium-ion accumulators for standard use in electronic devices, electrical tools and electric vehicle batteries.
Last year, ERP collected a total of 2,526 t of batteries and accumulators, of which 2,098 t was from portable batteries and accumulators, a figure that reaches the collection target of 45% set out in Royal Decree 106/2008.
