Reporting of packaging quantities exported at later stages is now simplified
On 27 November, the Ministry of Environment announced that the reporting of packaging quantities that are exported at later stages will be simplified.
If you sell to customers who later export the packaging abroad, it is no longer necessary to report these quantities and subsequently go through the digital DPA flow to apply for reductions.
A signed export declaration from your customer, who exports the packaging purchased from you, is now sufficient. This declaration serves as documentation that a share of the packaging purchased from you is used for export and therefore does not have to be reported or paid for in Denmark.
ERP Denmark provides a template for this purpose, which can be downloaded from our reporting portal. It is important that completed declarations are saved and form part of your internal control and can be presented upon request.
This simplification is very welcome.
Further simplification — and possibly cost savings
Many Danish companies have already experienced that Danish packaging suppliers pass on producer-responsibility fees on generic packaging — and in some cases add an extra administration fee on top.
By placing your name, logo or trademark on the packaging — or by applying a label with your name, logo or trademark afterwards (which you must inform your supplier about) — the producer responsibility shifts to you.
This gives you full control over the packaging depending on where you send it. You will pay the producer-responsibility fee yourself, but you are already doing this when buying from a Danish packaging supplier, as they pass on the fee. In addition, you avoid any extra percentage surcharge that Danish suppliers may add for their handling of the fee.
