Whole of Government’s Circular Economy Strategy 2026–2028 Launched
Strategy will help realise the vision of positioning Ireland as a recognised leader in circularity
ERP Ireland welcomes the recent launch of the Whole of Government Circular Economy Strategy 2026–2028 and commends the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications for its continued commitment to advancing Ireland’s circular economy objectives.
The new strategy sets out a clear and ambitious roadmap for positioning Ireland as a recognised leader in circularity - pioneering innovation, fostering collaboration, and building an economy where the value of products, materials and resources is preserved for as long as possible.
Key priority areas include:
- Electronics: Expansion of repair and remanufacturing, transposition of the Right to Repair Directive, and strengthened support for Ireland’s repair and reuse network.
- Pilot Repair Voucher Scheme: Aimed at reducing repair costs, increasing the perceived value of goods, and encouraging a nationwide culture of repair.
- Digital Product Passport: A new tool providing transparent information on a product’s sustainability, circularity and regulatory compliance - empowering consumers and driving demand for more sustainable products.
ERP Ireland looks forward to supporting the delivery of these actions and contributing to Ireland’s transition toward a more circular, resource‑efficient future.
