ERP Ireland would like to wish the very best of luck to all finalists for the Chambers Ireland Excellence in Local Government Awards.
In its 21st year, the Awards feature a total of 98 Local Authority projects shortlisted across 15 categories, reflecting the dedication and innovation taking place at local government level, and one Local Authority will be awarded the overall award and named Local Authority of the Year 2024.
It is inspiring to see the breath and diversity of programmes by Local Authorities to educate and take action across a various range of initiatives to positively impact our social and natural environment.
Congratulations to all those in particular in the Sustainable Environment & Biodiversity category sponsored by ERP which include:
- Cork City Council – Enhance Clogheenmilcon Fen Bog to create an ecological visitor attraction
- Cork County Council – Introduction of Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) – Alternative Fuel
- Galway City Council – Buaile Bó Ballyloughane
- Limerick City & County Council – GoGreenRoutes (2020-2024) Horizon 2020 project
- Monaghan County Council – A Sustainable Solution for Regional & Local Road Pavement Renewal
- Wexford County Council – The Establishment of Sustainable Clothes (Textiles) Banks
The circular economy is the pathway towards a more sustainable future and our transition requires action from all sectors of society.
Programmes like those championed by Local Authorities further demonstrates the valuable role they play.
