Why Battery Safety Matters

Batteries power so much of our daily life – from phones and laptops to e-bikes and smart devices. But if they’re mishandled or disposed of incorrectly, they can pose serious risks.

Reports of fires in bin trucks and at waste management facilities caused by improper battery and vape disposal highlight growing safety concerns. Damaged or incorrectly discarded batteries and vapes can ignite, putting people, property, and the environment at risk.

Lithium battery-related accidents are on the rise, making it essential to use and recycle them safely.

At ERP Ireland, we are committed to promoting safe practices around battery and vape recycling.

What You Should Do

✔ Recycle all portable batteries – 6V, D, C, AA, AAA, 9V, button cells – at your local shop selling similar batteries, supermarket, or civic amenity site.

✔ Recycle all vapes at your local vape retailer at point of purchase, or in battery collection bins at your local supermarket or civic amenity site.

✔ Recycle all power packs or battery-powered devices at your local electrical retailer or civic amenity site..

✔ Recycle LMT batteries  (e-bikes, e-scooters, e-mobility units, and battery-powered golf bags) for free at point of purchase or at your local civic amenity site.
