Hva er bærbare batterier?

Batterier eller akkumulatorer er alle kilder til elektrisk energi generert ved direkte konvertering av kjemisk energi og som består av en eller flere primære battericeller (ikke-oppladbare) eller som består av en eller flere sekundære battericeller (oppladbare).

De fleste typer batterier inneholder giftige tungmetaller, inkludert nikkel, kadmium og kvikksølv. Alle disse metallene kan gjenvinnes og gjenbrukes.

Resirkulering av batterier er bra for miljøet da det holder dem borte fra søppelfylling, der tungmetaller kan lekke ut i bakken, forårsake jord- og vannforurensning og sette dyre- og planteliv i fare. Hvis batterier forbrennes med husholdningsavfall, forårsaker tungmetallene  luftforurensning.

Large domestic appliances

This category includes appliances such as washing machines, cookers, dishwashers and tumble dryers.

The first stage of recycling is decontamination: cables and other electrical components are removed; ballasts, plastics, iron compounds and other metals are separated and recovered. These materials are then sent for further processing and recovery.
