The 10th anniversary of the iPhone is not the only significant milestone in the electronics industry this year. It's been 10 years since the WEEE Directive was first introduced in the UK and, a decade on, we feel it's important to reflect on the dramatic impact the Regulations have had on producers, consumers, retailers, local authorities and waste treatment operators.
We look back at how the goods we recycle have evolved beyond recognition and how our interaction with these products has also changed.
The report below provides a retrospective look at the last 10 years of the UK WEEE Regulations, reflecting on what we have achieved to date and the key challenges and developments ahead.
