The European Recycling Platform (ERP), is delighted to announce a multi-country awareness movement that aims to awaken people and companies to the need for recycling waste, saving resources, and protecting the planet.

“I’m Not Trash” campaign is a multi-channel initiative and will take place in different ERP countries (Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, and the UK), sharing the same headline and message until November.

Our aim:
ERP UK supports local authorities and their communities in the collection and recycling of portable household batteries and mixed WEEE through our successful Kerbside Collections incentive.

Important factors for batteries:

• Once discarded, batteries become a hazardous waste stream
• They should not be placed in residual (black bag) waste
• They `must` be collected separately
• It is important to remove them from the residual or other recycle waste streams
• If incorrectly handled, they can cause serious environmental issues or even fires
• Valuable materials such as steel, cobalt and lithium can be recovered and recycled from batteries
• The treatment for batteries is a special process for this purpose alone
• Supports a recycling mindset and engages with residents and local communities
• This helps engineer a circular economy
