Simplifying Packaging Compliance
Key takeaways from our webinar
We hope everyone who attended our packaging webinar on Wednesday 19th September 2018 found it helpful and informative.
For those who were unable to, you may be interested in seeing the key points we discussed on the day.
Packaging compliance with added value from ERP
First up, Richard Dove – our packaging specialist - covered our packaging scheme and ran through ERP’s offer and the services we deliver to over 600 businesses in the UK. Richard also went through the UK packaging regulations, giving a quick overview of what producers need to do to comply and what constitutes obligated and non-obligated packaging.
Diving into packaging system reform
Caroline Morrison - our head of compliance - then took up the reins with a deep dive into packaging system reform, covering its underlying principles and offering clues as to what a reformed system could entail.
Caroline finished by trying to answer the question on everyone’s lips: what next? Her response covered the reforms that Defra is working on in preparation for consultation, key timeframes for UK packaging waste recycling targets, and the transposition of packaging system reforms into legislation (expected by 2023). And – of course – Caroline explained ERP’s involvement in these discussions and how we will support our producer members.
