The Environment Agency published the Q2 2025 UK WEEE data on 29th August 2025. The collection data shows that some streams continue to fall slightly short of the UK targets after quarter 2.

EEE placed on the UK market (POM)

The table below demonstrates that over 9,850 tonnes more EEE was placed on the UK market (POM) in Q2 2025 when comparing against the same period last year (Q2 2024).

There were significant increases across various categories in Q2 2025 compared with Q2 2024; Large Household Appliances (Category 1) increased by 4% (nearly 4,900 tonnes), and the overall Small Mixed WEEE categories 2-10 increased by 10% (over 13,000 tonnes); specifically, Consumer Equipment (Category 4), Lighting Equipment (Category 5), Electrical and Electronic Tools (Category 6) and Toys, Leisure and Sports (Category 7) all had large increases from Q2 2024.

Cooling Appliances (Category 12) decreased by 1% (over 280 tonnes), Display Equipment (Category 11) decreased by 3% (over 580 tonnes) and Photovoltaic Panels (Category 14) decreased by 13% (over 7,200 tonnes).

The Q2 2025 POM data shows a consistent increase in quarter 2 volumes.

The charts below compare the volumes of EEE placed onto the UK market for each stream in quarter 2 over the last four years (2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025).

WEEE collected

As the table below demonstrates, WEEE collection volumes in Q2 2025 showed a 2% increase when compared to the same period last year (over 1,900 tonnes).

Some categories demonstrated growth, particularly Large Household Appliances (Category 1) which saw an increase of 3% (over 1,130 tonnes), Cooling Appliances Containing Refrigerants (Category 12) grew by 4% (over 1,240 tonnes), and Display Equipment (Cateogry 11) grew by 2% (over 200 tonnes). Photovoltaic Panels (Category 14), saw a huge 151% increase, albeit only by 193 tonnes.

The following streams showed a decline in collection volumes; Categories 2-10 Small Mixed WEEE collections decreased by 2% (740 tonnes) and Gas Discharge Lamps (Category 13) decreased by 13% (123 tonnes).

The Q2 2025 data shows that the collection volumes in quarter 2 have been consistently rising over the last 4 years.

The charts below compare the volumes of WEEE collected for each stream in quarter 2 over the last four years (2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025).

Outlook for the compliance year

When looking at the Q2 2025 collection volumes against the collection targets for 2025, this demonstrates that only Large Household Appliances (Category 1) and Photovoltaic Panels (Category 14) are on track after quarters 1 and 2, whilst Cooling Appliances Containing Refrigerants (Category 12), Display Equipment (Category 11), Categories 2-10 Small Mixed WEEE and Gas Discharge Lamps & LED Light Sources (Category 13) have all got some catching up to do.
